2015 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

EVERY HERO HAS A STORY

By Jason Lefebvre - Children's Librarian - Holyoke Library July 1, 2015
Visit the Holyoke Library beginning on Monday June 29th to register for this summer’s reading program, Every Hero Has a Story.  The program officially begins on Monday July 6th and is open to students grades K-8.  Simply pick up a reading log and start reading.  Read for thirty minutes a day, fill out your log, and return it to the library every Friday in July to pick up that week’s prize.  Children who participate in all five weeks of the program will be invited to our summer reading party on Thursday August, 6th at 1:30pm.
The library will also be offering a calendar of free family events and programs throughout the month of July.  Programs will include a visit from the Holyoke Fire Department, a play by the Hampstead Stage, Magician Mike Bent and much, much more. Weekly crafts will indulge the creative side of children and Monday through Wednesday kids and parents may join a children's librarian for a story time at 10am.  Each story time is geared towards specific ages from preschool to grade three.  Parents of infants and toddlers are encouraged to ask a children's librarian for more information about the new 1000 books before Kindergarten reading campaign.   Visit the Children's page at www.holyokelibrary.org for our full calendar of family events.
Teens and adults can explore all the new technological resources that the library has added this year including Freegal.  Holyoke Library card holders may stream movies and listen to music via the library website with this great new set of Freegal links.  The library is also a great place for teens  to find all those summer reading list books for school.
