PATHWAYS FOR PARENTS

Serving Families in Hampden County

By Cindy Milner - Program Coordinator September 30, 2015

Pathways for Parents Grow, Play and Learn Playgroups start a new season!

New songs, stories, crafts and friends are a common theme in the Ludlow Family Center at 54 Winsor Street Ludlow. That is where Grow, Play and Learn Together Playgroups meet every Thursday from 9:30-11 am.  Program coordinator Cindy Milner says “the playgroup aims to provide a play environment for children with their parent or guardian.” The setting gives parents the opportunity to learn about child development, participate in fun activities that support learning and school readiness including exposure to age appropriate science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Although it sounds like big kids school, children of all ages are welcome to the center for free.

Kids are having fun and making new friends. In additions to playgroups Pathways for Parents provides many programs throughout Ludlow, Hampden, Wilbraham, East Longmeadow Longmeadow and extends to Southwick, Granville and Tolland. Beyond playgroups you might find Welcome Baby, Toddler Two Step, Books and Babies at your local library.  Once a month families find Parent Cafe a fun opportunity for “Date Night” which includes dinner, childcare and some fun adult discussion on interesting topics with invited guest speakers.

Pathways for Parents is funded by the MA Department of Early Education and Care-Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant for families with children prenatal to age 8. Ms Milner describes the overall goal of Pathways for Parents as “Engaging Children, Educating Parents and Finding Resources for Families  in Hampden County.
