Make Time for Family Fun

By Carrie Hotte June 29, 2021

The weather has certainly been beautiful this past week and summer is well under way! Our weekends are booking up like crazy with summer cookouts and vacation get-aways! Being the health nut that I am, I am always looking for fun healthy recipes I can use for summer outings. This week put together a list of my favorite healthy watermelon recipes so I could share them with all my subscribers! You can get instant access to my Summer is for Watermelon Printable HERE.

We have already taken three vacations so far and have many more planned before the end of this year. This is so much more than we were able to plan last year and I am super excited to be traveling again! What about you? Are you taking more vacations this year than last? We are interested in hearing about the travel plans of all our readers so please take a minute to fill out this Travel Survey. Everyone that participates in the survey is entered to win one of two family vacations also listed in the article or if you haven't planned a vacation yet you can check out a few vacation discounts that Macaroni Kid has scored for you!  I love vacations because they give me something to look forward to and it always pushes me to work harder so that I don't have to work while on vacation. I love what I do but sometimes I get so caught up with work and responsibilities that I often times forget to enjoy life in the moment.

I noticed this week when I was adding new events to our event calendar that I had been working so hard at writing and publishing new articles for other families that I hadn't stopped to enjoy any the local events I was writing about with my own family. Sure we go on vacations but then I let work and household responsibilities consume me and too many times I forget to have fun too.

So I made it my goal to put the keyboard down, let the laundry build up a little more and delegate more often so that I could make time to do some fun local events. On Thursday we went over to the Chicopee Public Library to see a magic show! The library has a beautiful site for outdoor events and it was the perfect day for it. The kids were in awe and we had some good laughs.

On Saturday, my son had a carwash with his football team and the Chicopee Galaxy Youth Athletics crew. It was great watching the kids work for donations and of course all the water fights that are bound to happen when you give a bunch of boys hoses.

Saturday night we attended the Chicopee Fireworks at Szot park which was a very impressive sight to see. The band was great, the kids had a ball and the fireworks display was the best I had seen in years! You can check out the grand finale HERE on my FB page.

I had so much fun enjoying these free local events with my family that I have been working diligently all week to find more fun summer events not just for you all, but for us as well! Be sure to check our events calendar out HERE.

Sometimes working from home, or work in general, can consume you and it becomes difficult to separate work from family life. But I am so glad that I reminded myself to take these breaks with my family because I had a ball and honestly, I did not get behind on much.

My message this week to all my mom and dads out there would have to be this….  I know how hard you work to provide a good life for your children,  but it's also important to remember to enjoy the time with your children now. My oldest daughter turned 22 this week and while we are very close, we live separate lives now and it is hard planning things with her because of her work schedule. The kids are home for the summer so take breaks with them and do fun things now while they don't have an actual schedule. Check out our events calendar for FREE events, look up some family fun ideas on our website, or check out our Business Directory for Family Friendly Local Businesses. I promise you won't regret it!

Love and Noodles,

Carrie

Pleasure to Meet You!!

Hi, I'm Carrie. I have been with my husband Matt for over 10 years and we have 5 children and a fur baby.  I'm originally from Chicopee and although I have moved around a few times in my life, we have been living in our home in Aldenville for 9 years now.  My family and I love our neighborhood and enjoy connecting with others.   When I am not homeschooling our 4 youngest children, I enjoy hiking, exercising, reading and traveling.
