Weekly Publisher's Note

National Night Out-Chicopee

By Carrie Hotte August 3, 2021

Wow!!! I don't even know what to say! Thank you so much to everyone that came out on Monday to visit our table at the National Night Out event in Chicopee!

I have loved Macaroni Kid for 20 years, since my first born child was old enough to attend family events like these. I would seek out the event's calendar religiously to find fun classes that I could do with her, and all five of my children since. This past March, after being stuck indoors, homeschooling the four children still at home, I went to Macaroni Kid Chicopee-Holyoke, hoping to find something to do with these ever bored children, but when I came to the site it was bare. That's when I discovered that they were looking for a new publisher and the rest is history. I have been working around the clock ever since trying to stay in the know so that I can help other moms and parents like me who want to find fun things to do with their kids. Now that our towns are finally starting to open up a bit more, our event calendar is filling up, and I am ever so excited to share it with all of you.

When I heard about the National Night Out event, I knew I wanted to set up a table to inform more of my community of this amazing resource that we provide. But I must admit, I was a little nervous for this event. This would be my first event not only as a Macaroni Kid Publisher but ever. I'm a little on the shy side most days, an introvert at heart, but I also knew that I didn't want anyone to miss out on such a great resource, so I put on a brave face and got out there to spread the word. I never imagined the turn out that we would get at our table.

The kids and some adults LOVED the ribbon twirlers. The coloring pages were a big hit among the younger kids, and we so loved decorating our tent with the finished artwork. It's something we do at home with our own kids and it made me feel at home to see all the kids putting so much effort into those Thank You hearts.  And while the kiddos were enjoying fun crafts, I was also able to meet so many new families and spread the word about our wonderful website. A special shout out to my wonderful daughter's who ever so graciously took on the task of helping kids learn how to make the ribbon twirlers while I got to tell families all about Macaroni Kid Chicopee-Holyoke.  I was also pleased to have friends stop by and say hi as well as connect faces to names I have met through social media these past few months.

Thank you to our AMAZING sponsors for making this event so much fun!

Thank you to our amazing sponsors:

Altitude Trampoline Park (Holyoke, MA) donated a family 4 pack of jump passes and a bike helmet

Descant Music and Art Studio (Holyoke, MA) donated a bike helmet

Meadow Street Auto, Inc (Chicopee, MA) sponsored our hand sanitizers and pop its.

Wassmann Audio Video, Inc donated water bottles.

Our amazing sponsors made it possible to give out hand sanitizers, pop-its (which are the new trend with the kids) and water bottles. We also had some amazing prizes to give away, including a Family 4 pack of passes to Altitude, 2 bike helmets, and Monster Truckz Hartford adult pass and child pass.

We were able to enter everyone who signed up into a data base and the winners were selected by random so without further ado:

Congratulations: Teresa Palmer of Chicopee for winning a Raskullz Bike & Skate Helmet for 5+

Congratulations: Kiara Esteves of Chicopee for winning a Razor Blacklabel Multi-Sport Helmet for 8+

Congratulations: Dawn Rock of Chicopee for winning 1 Free Adult Admission & 1 Free child Admission to Monster Truckz Hartford

Congratulations: Elizabeth Abert of Chicopee for winning the Family 4 pack of passes to Altitude Trampoline Park Holyoke!

All winners will be announced LIVE on the Chicopee-Holyoke Macaroni Kid Facebook page as well as by email!

We may have only had 4 prize winners this time around, but I think it's safe to say we all are winning. I, for meeting all of you, you, for gaining such a fabulous resource with Macaroni Kid Chicopee-Holyoke, and all of us, for being able to get out and enjoy community friendship once again.

While this was my first event, I guarantee this will not be my last! But we need your help to spread the word! Make sure to invite your friends and family to subscribe to our newsletter and businesses to join forces and advertise with us. The more we connect with more people and businesses in the community, the more events and prizes we are able to bring to you and the more your free family resource website and newsletter grows!

Please know that I am in awe of all of you! Your children were beautiful, you parents and grandparents are amazing and the businesses and community is so supportive! We are so much stronger together!

A special thank you to my husband for always supporting me and helping me set up for this event. Thank you to my children for always being so willing to help others and make me laugh and pushing mom to go out and do this event. Thank you to my mother in law for helping me print things, my Macaroni Kid team for all the tips on creating an event. Thank you to my parents for watching the kids so I could set up. And thank you to so many of my friends and business owners either for your support or sponsorship. I believe in strong families and strong communities and you all made my evening a success. I am so proud to be the publisher of such an amazing community of people!

Do you have other fun things that you do to keep yourself sane? I would love to hear from you. Feel free to send me a message at mackidchicopee@macaronikid.com or find me on Facebook.
Thanks for taking the time out of your day to read my thoughts.
Peace, Love, Health and Noodles,
 Carrie

Pleasure to Meet You!!

Hi, I'm Carrie. I have been with my husband Matt for over 10 years and we have 5 children and a fur baby.  I'm originally from Chicopee and although I have moved around a few times in my life, we have been living in our home in Aldenville for 9 years now.  My family and I love our neighborhood and enjoy connecting with others.   When I am not homeschooling our 4 youngest children, writing for Macaroni Kid Chicopee-Holyoke and running my Fit Moms Fit Families business,  I enjoy hiking, exercising, reading, traveling, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.
