Last week my family and I were hosted at The Connecticut Science Center and we had a really awesome day. We parked in the garage adjacent to the Connecticut Science Center. It was a busy day but the garage had lots of parking space available. We parked on level G2 and took the elevators down to the lobby.
When you first get off the elevator the lobby floor is where you will find the ticket booth, security, movie theater, gift shop, restrooms, Froyo World and Subway with lots of dining tables and chairs. There was not a big line at the ticket booth as there were several staff members working and checking people in very quickly.
When purchasing tickets you have the option to buy a general admission ticket or adding a Butterfly Encounter ticket or a movie and stage show ticket. The movies and shows alternate quite often. We have experienced both the butterfly encounter and the movie on another visit to the science center which we enjoyed but due to time restraints we focused on the science center exhibits this visit. Check out the rates here. ">https://ctsciencecenter.org/visit/prices/">
Note: 2 and under are free. If you purchase tickets and decide later that you loved it so much and want to become a member you have 30 days to upgrade to a membership in which the cost of your first visit will apply to your membership fee.
The KidSpace is ideal for children from grades K-3. It’s one of my little ones favorite exhibit because of all the water and ball fun. There’s little aprons available to the kids to prevent them from getting wet but I always pack an extra outfit because my son always manages to get wet even with the apron.
In addition to the water and ball activities at the KidSpace you will also find a reading hut with bean bags and books. Storytime happens right there at select times. There is also large soft blocks for the children to build and play with. It’s a busy exhibit with all the little ones but it’s great!
Next level up is Level 4, one of my big Mac Kid’s favorite. It includes the Engineering Lab, Sight and Sound, Forces in Motion, The Butterfly Encounter and the Real Bodies.
The Real Bodies exhibit really does provide an amazing insight of what is happening inside of us all. I’ve seen the billboards about the exhibit and thought it was interesting but when I entered the exhibit I was immediately blown away. I didn’t know if it was the nurse in me that was so intrigued by the exhibition but my teenager and husband were also very amazed. If you have a 4+ year old child that just ask tons of questions about their body and how things work this is the perfect exhibit to let them explore. (No touching though 😉) This exhibit has been extended to September 1, 2019. You do not want to miss it!!
The Sight and Sound Exhibit allows you to freeze yourself and see yourself from all angles. It’s pretty cool. This is the exhibit to make noise and get moving!
Level 5 includes Exploring Space, Picture of Health, Invention Dimension, and Sports Lab. My teenager and husband really enjoyed this level.
In the Exploring Space exhibit you can lay back in a space pod and tour the outer reaches of space. You can select what you like to see up close and learn more about it. We also got to see a NASA spacesuit and so much more.
The Invention Dimension exhibit has a Lego building area for the little ones and puzzles
I have brought the boys to the Connecticut Science Center many times and it’s always a new adventure with more things to see and learn. I love that there is something for everyone and you’ll never be bored. This trip we were surprised with the appearance of Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol. Which was seriously the best treat ever for my little Mac Kid as Chase is his favorite character EVER! With the warm weather the rooftop was open and we had the opportunity to check it out. The view was breathtaking! You can see the Connecticut River and and just a beautiful view of the city.
*Chicopee Public Library had youth coupons available to families*
