Welcome Summer!! We started out the month with a wet and cold Memorial Day weekend with temperature lows in the 40's. The following weekend we were all looking for ways to cool down from the humidity with temperature highs in the upper 90's. Sounds about right for our New England weather!
Things have seemed to mellow out just right these past few days, a perfect ending for end of the school year festivities! It's also looking like it's going to be a very nice Father's Day weekend, with temps in the mid 80's and plenty of sunshine.

Juneteenth, the oldest celebration of the end of slavery, is this Saturday. You can celebrate this event by supporting and shopping Black-owned businesses. Surrounding towns such as Amherst are commemorating the event with a day of festivities. You can find out more HERE.

Looking for ways to stay cool this summer? The parks above already have the spray pads turned on and I reached out the the Chicopee Parks and Rec who told me they are working on getting some of the pools up and running. No official date for that yet. I will keep you posted.
I don't know about your kids, but as soon as school get out for summer, it seems like the boredom kicks in and they are immediately reaching for the electronic devices. Keep the kids engaged in summer learning and the love of reading with these Summer Reading Programs.
One of my favorite parts about summer is the summer festivals! I'm so excited to see things finally opening back up and to hear that we can celebrate with community events again! Be sure to come out to Chicopee on June 26th to show your support for the LBGTQ+ community on June 26th for the very first Chicopee Pride Fest! More info can be found HERE!
Be prepared to celebrate the whole day through with the Chicopee Annual Fireworks coming back this year! It has been confirmed by the Chicopee Parks and Rec that Chicopee will host a fireworks display at Szot Park on June 26th around 9PM. Whoo hoo!! Sounds like a great way to start the summer off if you ask me!
