September means summer is ending and fall has arrived. It means kids are back at school ... or will be soon! But those aren't the only reasons to mark this month. Here are 10 holidays and events your family can recognize in September:

National Read a Book Day

 Sept. 6

Today is the perfect opportunity to make some time to read. Read something you love and read with the kids. Share that joy of reading with them not just today -- but every day.

I love reading books that help me be better at something and try to read personal development books for at least 10 minutes a day. Check out my list of top personal development books to read for any area of growth.

National Grandparents Day Sept. 8

Grandparents are special. If your children's grandparents are local, spend time showing them just how important they truly are to your family. If they aren't local, plan ahead and send a handmade card and some recent photos of the kids or make a Family Tree Craft with the kids.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day Sept. 19

Ahoy, Matey! Have fun and talk like a pirate today.

National Comic Book Day Sept. 25

Comic books first originated in the United States in the 1930s. Celebrate National Comic Book Day with a visit to the local comic book store.
